Now here is my Best Foreign riders Invaders Team.
1 Jan Steachmann. A under performing second string at Wolverhampton, Jan the Man, became a STAR at Long Eaton and carried the rest of the team onto bigger and better things. And who can forget the night he was crowned National League Riders Champion.
2 Rick Hellsen. Truely a great rider, watching Rick kick out his leg in a victory salute, will alwaya stay with me, along with the way he beat Greg Hancock (the then World Number3)by using track craft and skill, while riding a much slower bike. And who will forget, how Rick beat the future World Champion Jason Crump, who seemed totally unbeatable that night he came down with Swindon. That race is still fresh in my mind and is something I shall never forget. Thanks Rick, you're a STAR.
3 Ronnie Correy. The Rocket was only wih us for a season, but still made a brilliant impression.
4 Steve Johnston. Super Jonno, when he came to us from Sheffield, he was a nobody, by the time he left he was an International Star, one of Booeys most astute signings. Perhaps his best?
5 Glenn Doyal. Another Aussie, this guy came up through the ranks and always gave his all and became Aussie Champ on a couple of occassions.
6 Robert Nagy. What this guy could have achieved in an Invaders jacket, we'll never know after the life threatening crash at Sheffield. At the time he was flying, he would have become one of Long Eatons greatest riders I am sure. If it hadn't been for a certain Mr Matousek!!
7 Mark Fiora. The third Aussie to make my line up. Mark literally carried the 1986 Long Eaton Team on his own. A great rider who always had time for the fans.
Manager Eric Boocock. For reasons already stated

THE BEST EVER ENGLISH INVADERS TEAM
1 Carl Stonehewer. What can you say about Stoney, roaring around the outside or zipping underneath the opposition.Brilliant, Exciting you couldn't belive some of the things this guy did on a Speedway bike.
2 Carl Blackbird. Big Bird was part of the Invaders Dynamic Duo. When we needed a 5-1 you could always rely on Carl & Jan the Man
3 Neil Collins, A battler who never knew when he was beaten.
4 Martin Dixon. The Old MAD DOG himself so many brilliant rides and so many brilliant memories. Like the time he pulled a victory wheelie and fell off!!
5 Dave Perks Captain. Mr Long Eaton Speedway. Could ride any line and look after his partner and team ride them to a 5-1. Remember team riding?
6 Paul Stead. Rarely came from the back, but then again didn't really need to. Trapped like a DEMON.
7 Dave Tyler. Who could forget his rapid rise to Stardom. A guy who could have gone onto great things and could well have been a top Star in the First Division. He lost his way, what he needed was a Speedway guru, an older rider who could have helped steer him to greatness.
Team Manager. Eric Boocock. The only guy for the post really. I know other managers won something, while in charge of the Invaders, but Booey turned us around and gave us a team to be proud of and made Long Eaton a team to be respected, Thanks Booey.

Nightmare Long Eaton riders.
1. Jamie Habbin, if he put in as much effort into his riding as he did posing, he MIGHT have made it.
2. Keith Stanley, used to slide into the bends when he went under the tapes.
3.Thierry Hilaire, entertaining? no chance.
4. Nicky Allott, double figures one week, next week, rode like a complete novice.
5. Gary O'Hare, should have made it.
6. Mark Williams, was there ever a time when he stayed in contact with his bike?
7. Derek Cooper, another poser.
